Ok folks i am thinking buying a 27" 3.2 i3 iMac tmr to use door aperture 3 and iMovies 9 and the like of Internet emails etc. I trust this will serve me well and be pretty quick? As it within my budget Unless any of you can shed any light that I should go higher and why

Do you currently use apple products? You could build a much faster computer for less money and would be able to take advantage of windows 7!

Yes I do have a 3 years old MacBook pro. I gave always had mac and not in a chance I will never go windows.

Fair play! Mac and windows isnt for everyone i understand that. Im actually typing this from chrome on ubuntu on my netbook lol so i myself like to swap from windows a bit. Ive just never got on with osx and apples way of deciding what features they will introduce. And my opinion is its usually the features that gets them the most revenue.

I've been using a 27" iMac i5 now for some 9 months, and it's fine for Photo editing. I use Lightroom. and Photoshop, with no problem. I did up the RAM to 8Gb, just to be on the safe side. Mine's a 2.6 GHz model so your 3.2 GHz one should be fine

iMacs are fast and very nice. A 27" 3.2 i3 will be a great improvement on your current Macbook.

iMacs have a good OS and they're pretty fast, no slowness or crashes. I think Linux is good too, it's free as well. I Use Windows, Mac OSX, Ubuntu and OpenSUSE. They're all pretty good but except from Windows (not a windows fan). I use an iMac 21.5" and that's good enough so i would go for your 27". their AppleCare Helpline is absolutely brilliant too so you wont have to worry about problems with the thing.

Well I went to apple store last night came home with a 27" 2.8 quad core i5 wow what a machine well chuff.

Andrew, you will have to let me know how good this is. Been using an older IMac, which is great but since going to 5d2 it does struggle a little, but I really would like to go to the 27 inch and get the extra screen space and speed.

Looking to use it for Aperture and PS plus some video editing from the 5d2 from time to time.

Hi Mate,

I will keep your up to date on my though but soooo far I am well impress it honestly Kick ass I knew it be great I was going to go for the 3.2 i3 but I decided to go for the i5 Quad Core to be on the safe side so it would last me longer :) I plan to keep this for at least 5 years all being well my macbook pro is 3 years old and it still doing solid but not the speed i need for the video work I want to do...

Not I did not upgrade the ram I plan to do that myself one day as it cheaper to do it yourself rather than paying Apple price for memory
