In a week or so I will have the money (£500 approx) to buy a new laptop. Rather than jumping in and buying the first one I see, I am going to be sensible and think about it! (That will be a first!)
At the moment, I have my eyes on two...a Packard Bell or HP.

WHat is the difference between Windows7 and Windows 7 64-bit???

Are the screens on Laptops pretty much the same? I need to be sure that it's going to give me the best image when viewing my photos.

I had a Dell (before it died on me :( ) and although I quite liked it, I am tempted by the Packard Bell as it comes with PSE8 already installed. HP has more memory.
Should I be looking at something else?

Any hints and tips would be gratefully received :)

basically you need 64 bit if you want 4gb memory or more.

for that sort of money i got the OH a dell studio 15, very nice spec for the price.

i wouldnt edit on a laptop screen however, an external monitor is a million times better.

Well I have been to have a look at various laptops...

Is it better to use a desktop to edit photos on? I am a little confused as to whether or not it would be better to get a desktop..I like the idea of the laptop as it's portable. But then I ask myself do I really need it to be portable.

I really don't know what to do!

youll get more bang for buck with a desktop, youll need a monitor/keyboard/mouse mind but then for editing for any period of time id prefer all of that anyway.

personal preference but id say get a monitor and calibrator whichever way.

LOL...thankyou! I think for the money they are, it's all a gimick. I am not too keen but hubby likes them...but seeing as this purchase will be replacing MY laptop, I think it should be my choice!!
