New lens choice

Hi all, I'm trying to decide on a tamron 17-50 or tamron 28-75 when I get paid next week. I have a d7000 so it is a crop sensor and I have been informed that the 17-50 is the better choice for crop but I'm worried that the max 50mm of the 17-50 will not be long long enough as I'm currently using a 18-105 as my standard lens. I wonder if 28mm will be wide enough. I tend to take individual abd small group portraits and action shot with only a few occasional landscapes, thrown in.

what do you think??? :)
 
If you are keeping the 18-105 then you have overlap no matter which one you choose.

If you want wider then something like the Tokina 11-16 or 12-24 would be ideal.

What is the reason for looking at the 17-50? Is it f2.8? and if so do you need this for shooting in low light. A lot of people do not need a f2.8 lens.
 
Hi, yes I'm looking for a faster lens for low light shooting. I would also like the increase in iq they offer. I currently have a nifty fifty and enjoy the low light capabilities but feel the need for a faster zoom lens as I've missed a few shots from having a lens of with a fixed focal length. :)
