New Lens Choices?

So having sold my 50 f1.4 and my d90/tamron 17-50 combo, I have some camera money to burn (aka use wisely)

Current kit includes d800, 70-200vr2 f2.8, 105 afd micro f2.8, tamron 28-75, samyang 85 f1.4 (manual focus) and a sigma 14mm f2.8.

What I want is a low light option 35/50mm f1.8/f1.4 and a wide angle zoom.

Need to work out how best to consolidate the kit!!

Sell the 14mm and get a nikkor 14-24 or 16-35?

Then to get a sigma 35 mm f1.4 or just a bog standard 50 f1.8d/g?

I shoot mainly people but want a decent wide zoom for some landscape stuff/architecture.

Welcome all thoughts!! Especially from those with some of the lenses mentioned!

You won't go wrong with the new sigma line. Both the 50 and 35 get rave reviews. There is talk of a 24 being released in October. No word (not that i have heard) of an 85 though.

If you use 100mm filters 16-35 if not 14-24 if you are prepared to invest in the filter holder

Get the Nikon 16-35mm and a Sigma 35mm or 50mm f/1.4 Art and some filters for landscapes.

Nikon 16-35 is awesome - Sigma 35mm f1.4 is a cracker of a lens if you want 35mm.

I just think that with 85 f1.4 (albeit MF) the 35 f1.4 might be a good low light companion which is versatile.

I had two 50 mm which I used but have sold them both.

Any point in keeping the 14mm sigma if I got the 16-35?

I've seen some awesome landscapes from David Keochkerian (sp??) With a D800 and the 16-35. I would also sell the 14mm if I had the 16-35.

Yeah, just had a look - it's great stuff! I guess this means my sigma 14mm will be up for sale soon. I did initially buy it to dip my toe in as it were. Ready to fully jump in now.

I know the 14-24 is a stellar performer but for the same price I can get the 16-35 and the 35f1.4

Is sigmas qc better now with the art line?

Seems to be - I would never have recommended or considered a sigma (had a couple in the past - wasn't to impressed) until recently.

I think its advisable to do this with all lenses and bodies now.

I prefer the sound of the 16-35 and 35 1.4 but the 14-24 is a real awesome lens.

Cheers - I'm about to list the 14mm and as its my birthday soon I'm hoping to pool some funds to get one of these lenses - probably the 35 first. Will i notice a massive difference between 14mm and 16mm??

Probably you will, but that should work in your favour most of the time.

I suppose the real question was will I miss those 2mm?!?

I suspect not but I dont really know - My lenses jump from 28mm to 14mm!! I have nothing in the middle!

there are some focal length simulators, try a couple. tamron has one.

but 2mm is quite alot at the wide end
