Hi all I'm off to a fiew stadium concerts coming up, after replacing my very old zoom lens for my 60d. Nearly all my tickets are seated about half way back at the venues I've been looking at the canon 70-200 f4Lis USM lens. I also will be. Using it for golf and football. Don't really want to stretch to the f2.8 as its a bit out of my budget.

Anyone able to offer some advice of its suitability for me. Understand the range might be a tad short for the concerts but I assume (someone correct me otherwise) the quality of the lens will allow me to zoom in a fair bit in photoshop to compensate as for the sports I think myself this will be a decent length?

Help tips and advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Many venues don't allow photography, so its a case of smuggling in the gear and shooting as quick and as surreptitiously as possible. White L lenses do tend to stand out a bit though.
I think zooming in PS is more about sensor quality than the lens. Are you happy to crop when using high ISO's for action stopping shutter speeds?

With my current body (60d) amd my old canon lens the images are slightly better than average, not great but average. I've been after one of these for a while now and was assuming the image quality when zoomed in afterwards would be better. I'm sure it would be.

Well it will, wouldn't be worse.
Had the none IS one for years, great lens. Small and light enough to carry all the time and takes a 1.4x VERY well. I just don't use it any more. With the 1.6x crop you'll have good reach if not focus separation.
Mind you, the add below has the old 2.8 for only a hundred more, and no one EVER complained about the quality until the Mk2 came out! Then theres second hand. It is a lot heavier and bigger though. Still.........?
