Hi Everyone,

I need some help deciding on 2 new lenses.

I specialise in gig photography and need to replace lenses.

Ideally i would like Canon 24-70 2.8L and 70-200 2.8L, but budget will not stretch that far at the moment, not for both anyway!

Looking at some options:-

Sigma 18-50 2.8
Sigma 24-70 2.8
Tamron 28-75 2.8

Sigma 70-200 2.8

Any suggestions?

Many thanks
Justin

I would suggest:

Tamron 28-75 2.8
Sigma 70-200 2.8

The Tamron is regarded to be sharper than the Sigma 24-70 and the Sigma 18-50 might be a bit short for gigs (although it will be betterfor landscapes)

The Tamron 70-200 f2.8 could also be another choice for the telephoto but the AF is faster and less noisy on the Sigma 70-200

Both good lenses (24-70 and 70-200mm).... but for indoor photography or photography under low light conditions, f2.8 is the minimum aperture you'll need. Most would go for the faster prime lenses like the 85mm f1.8 or 1.2, 100mm f2, 135mm f2 or even the 200mm f2 (although very expensive).

If you want the flexibility of a zoom, what about the 17-55mm f2.8 IS, ok an EF-S lens, but the IS will give you that little bit more flexibility.

A rough budget would help.
