i dont have a huge amount for a new lens but i have seen these could anyone tell me if they are worth getting or leave it?

i have a nikon d5300 and i have about a £150 budget give or take ive looked up these zoom lenses

Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II
or
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR

i know there nothing special, im just starting out taking pictures with my kit lens and loving it would just like something that zooms a little more

thanks for the help or if you reccomend a different lens please feel free to

Up your budget a trifle and get a tamron 70-300 vc,it's a cracker of a lens for more reach

Forget the second lens for now. Just try to get to grips with stuff using what you've got.

Learn to see, learn to judge exposure. Another lens isn't going to give you that. Shopping for more stuff can be like an avoidance strategy.

If you want cheap then the sigma 70-300 macro isn't bad, no os/vc though so you'd need to keep your speed high but it is around £84 new on Amazon.

The heron in flight on my Flickr was shot with it

Also being a pseudo macro you can get pretty close so it opens a few doors

Anyway take a look and see what you think

Whatever you decide on, check out what's available on the big used dealer sites like MPB Photographic and Mifsuds - your money will go further and you will have some peace of mind as you'll get a warranty.

What kind of advice is that? He said he wants something with more reach than what he has. As far as I know you don't need a PHD before you can use a zoom lens.

I've been looking at the tamron can get for just under 200 is it worth the effort extra 100 over the nikon
