New Lens on a Budget!

Looking for something AF-S to fit a nikon D60.

something with a bit more oof than the kit lens, thats capable of some basic macro, with a slightly higher zoom for day to day shots but ideally something I can pick up second hand around £60 mark.... or even less if possible haha!

I have my eye on this tamron ...

Tamron AF 70-300mm F4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2

...But am reluctant to get a dedicated macro lens, and would prefer something a little more rounded...

Another consideration was a 17-70 or 24-70 lens, but struggling to find one cheap, even second hand

Any suggestions? or comments on the above lens?

£60 is tight...and I suppose you do know that the lenses that you've mentioned are not real "macro" lenses, that's just the manufacturer telling porkies.

Anyway, have you thought about getting a manual focus lens or how about a set of close up filters? I have a set of Kood ones that cost under £30. They're not as good as a real macro lens but they're cheap and fun and I'm happy with mine.

Another option could be to pick up a cheapo lens and reverse fit it to your existing lens. You might be able to find a 19-35mm or similar in budget but I don't know how much a reverse adapter will be, not much I hope... Of course reverse fitting one lens to another or buying close up filters wont give you more zoom for day to day stuff but I think that you might struggle to cover all of your requirements for £60.
