I'm stuck, I have been looking for a new lens for a while and thought I had settled on a canon/sigma 24-105 but also I have now seen the sigma 24-70f2.8 selling for around a third of the price of the canon. Has anyone used/purchased this lens or the sigma 24-105 for that matter? The reviews on the 24-70 haven't been the greatest but consumer reviews on wex etc really rate it! Is it a bargain or just crap and not worth the money?

Hi sorry Paul, some how lost this thread! I've been reading up on the tamron and seems a good lens, what has been your experience with it? Has any one else had any other suggestions or experience with this lens? It's almost solely for portraits.

I've been very happy with the Tamron 24-70 VC. One comment would be that the vignetting wide open is probably upto about 1.5/2 stops, it disappears about f4. However when I tested it on my old 60d it wasn't visible.

I've been happy with mine so I would say yes, ultimately your choice though. Just be mindful at the moment there appears to be a couple of folk on here struggling with front focus issues, so if possible try before you buy, also there are a few in the classifieds too.
