Currently Own a second hand Sigma 55-200Dc and I'm not really impressed by the image quality. I thought it was just my technique but every image seems very low quality at the 200mm end and blurry.

Would a upgrade to the Canon 55-250is help? I do have quite shaky hands sometimes. Be used for aviation mainly at Manchester. Aircraft 150/200 yards away.
 
something with is would help, you could go 70-300 too, tamron one perhaps
 
Yeah I think I definitely need IS. For zoom lenses as I do shake. I'd like the extra 50mm of the tamron
 
Another comment in support of the Tamron. The stabilisation on it is good, it's a very good lens for the money. You could also think about a monopod to give you something to balance the lens on as well.
