I've been given £350 of John Lewis vouchers and having just bought a 1ds mkii with a canon 50mm f1.4 I was thinking of this to complement my range

I'll add the extra £100. Does anybody have one of these on a full frame body? If so, what do you think if it? Or would you suggest something within my price range? I'm limited to JL unfortunately due to the vouchers being for use there only

Youll find loads of people recommending this lens, generally its one of the best zoom lenses you can buy for very little money.
 
I have the IS version of this lens - it is very sharp and extremely well built. From what I hear the non IS version lacks only the image stabilisation otherwise it is just as good.
 
Excellent I see it gets good reviews bar the IS I've tried searching on here but can't find any threads with shots taken with it. I'd like to view some before I buy it

Not sure that HDEW are exactly competitors to JL. They are grey importers rather than selling UK stock.

they are UK based and tax and import duty is paid on them so cant see the problem. not like you are buying from a china based company.

stil if JL argued the toss then its £7 cheaper at currys as well.
though looking into it further seems like JL have already price matched and only on certain products so its a bit of false advertising by them really
 
The point is that it is not Canon UK stock. Either way good luck to the OP if he decides to make the case.
 
It's a cracking lens. That's a good price too. Buy it you won't regret it!
 
To be fair it will effectively cost me £100 so it looks like s no brainer I suppose!
