Pretty much, especially on a 7D.

Have you tried them then?

For a tenner, there's not much to lose! Although you would get better results from buying an old manual focus prime lens and a reversing ring. Or using extension tubes

Yes, I've used similar.

Whether they're a waste of £10 depends on what you want from them. They decrease the minimum focus distance quite usefully and have the advantage of not interfering with the camera-lens communication (unlike reversing rings and similarly priced extension tubes) but worsen the image quality quite a lot. That said, they've enabled me to take some photos I'm pleased with.

I would say a waste of money. But the Raynox DCR-250 and 150 work on the same principle and are far higher quality - about £40 from Amazon. A few thousand sample images here http://www.flickr.com/groups/raynoxdcr250/
