Need a new mobile [non-iPhone] phone which can be used apart from everything web browsing & social networking too.

Any advice?

Why not an iPhone?

As Andrew says, something running the Android OS, is the next best option, then probably a Blackberry.

Blackberry for web browsing = naff. Although I can't vouch for the Storm.

HTC Magic is pretty cheap and does a good job. Missus picked one up on Vodafone today and I'm pretty impressed. Great browser, android apps, smooth interface etc.

HTC is your best option. I have a Touch Pro and its superb (although I'm thinking my next phone is an iPhone)

Google Nexus One - might actually be a true iPhone challenger? we will have to wait and see.

I went down the blackberry route and really like it, only got the 8520 Curve, which lacks GPS, but does everything else.

Blackberries just don't have the scope of Apps compared to the iPhone or even Android phones, which is probably the only reason I might consider an iPhone in the future.

What's it like for phone/sound quality ?. I've got the TD2 & I'm thinking of moving up to the HD2 for the bigger screen

I moved up from just basic texting so it's a massive leap for me, strangly I don't make that many calls or listen to music so for me the sound is ok. If you can wait till the lake distict camping meet you can have a play. I use it for surfing most of the time when I'm at work :D, the WiFi is pretty handy as well at home.

Cunning plan

That'll give me time for a haggle with T-Mobile ;)
