New monitor, ? Do I need to

Just wondering really, I've wanted a new monitor for a while now, mine is 19" lcd about 6-7 years old.

But as the desktop is just used for basic stuff, couldn't really justify spending the money.

Well now its getting used for viewing and messing with pics.

Thinking of getting a new one, so 2 questions.

Which one, price around £200

And would I really notice the difference, never using my PC for anything to do with this sort of thing.

So I'm in the dark.

For PP work, try and go for a IPS model, as you can view them from any angle and the image still looks the same, unlike a normal screen where it will go darker or lighter.

I've just got a DELL U2412M IPS monitor for christmas and it was £212 including p&p. There's a lot of places selling them for around the same price on the net, do a google search to find them.

Although I've only had it a couple of days I can highly recommend it. It brings out the colours fantastically and gives your photos a new lease of life. You need a good graphics card with it though and through the display port the output is excellent.

That is the one I was thinking of, seems to get good reviews, and most say its good.

Just not sure if need it.
