New Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28mm f/1.8G

Sounds like a nice idea - when and how much is another matter. I can't see them putting it out for under £300 and I wouldn't be surprised if it's more. Let's hope not - £100 would be right up my street :lol:

Yeah, I guess it'll be somewhere similar to the 85mm 1.8g. Hope it's cheaper though. It has potential.
 
It's certainly an excellent "walkabout" prime on FX and plugs a gap in Nikon's range of AF-S primes.

I hope they don't make the mistake of completely forgetting to have a focus scale window like they did on the 35/1.8 ;)
 
Nikon Switzerland leaks the D3200 and 28mm f/1.8G prices and 28mm lens is around £ 560, thats a rip off...:annoyed:
 
Would have 'maybe' considered it for half that price, but I'll be sticking with my 35mm.
Seems overpriced - only by about 100%:lol:

Same here, even though I've already got the 24mm 1.4G :cuckoo:

It looks like a winner, good price and the samples look promising. Cheapest gold ring, nano lens so far, and by a long way.
 
This lens, a 50 1.4 and a 85 1.8 would be a pretty sweet lineup for a D700/800. Even on a crop it'd be pretty close to the perfect 43mm normal lens on FF.

Sadly, there's no world in which a 24/28 is cheaper than an equivalent aperture 85. They're a fair bit more complex.

I wish this had been a 24 1.8.
 
decided to spend my money on the 85mm 1.8G in the end, thought I would get more use out of it (and have been really delighted with it!)
 
I have one I picked up having recently made the switch back to Nikon with a D700 from a stint with a canon 7d. I really like the lens, its fairly small and light, optically it seems very good, its very sharp wide open, good minimum focusing distance, quick to focus... cant fault it so far.
 
Well if the rumoured budget FF d600 is true, they will need to release more affordable lenses.
