New Printer printing wrong

Hi,

I just purchased a new printer, a Canon PIXMA iP4600 and I am not totally happy with the prints.

For example, I printed a family photo of some relatives, and the print seems to be too warm, and almost have an orange cast over it. On the camera screen the colours look true to the actual room and clothing they were wearing etc, however, when printed, everything is too warm.

I use sRGB in my printer, and I am printing with some Canon easy printing utility. The files I am printing are straight from the camera, no editing done.

What do I need to do to rectify this problem?

Thanks,
Matt

The display screen on the camera is not really the best way to judge the quality of the image. Do you get a similar result when viewed on your computer screen?

I don't know the canon software as I'm an Epson user, but is there a panel that lets you adjust the colour of the printed result. That might be the easiest way to correct the problem

The appropriate printer profile for your printer and paper and a calibrated monitor.

Then you would want to soft-proof your sRGB image against the printer profile and then make the necessary adjustments to ensure that what you see is what you want to get.
