Hi all - need some advice please..

Got a Epson 1640SU scanner which i've had for years - in perfect condition and works perfectly.. but not on Win7 Ulimate or Pro (64 or 32bit). As we have upgraded everything else I might as well look at upgrading this to a new model, and have come across these two:

1. Epson Perfection V600 Photo
2. Canon CanoScan 9000F

My preference at the moment is leaning towards the Canon, based on the reviews and specs from the web, and I has a Canon PixmaPro 9000 printer which I'm very happy with.

Anyone got one of these scanners and got any comments please, good or bad. It will primairly be used for scanning images for inclusion in artwork or photos for restoration and repair etc.. not for mass or bulk archiving. Need quality and functionality not quantity.

Cheers.

Since you have Ultimate and Pro, have you tired downloading the files needed for XP mode? They are free from MS and should allow your old xp drivers to work.

Another alternative is to try some software that will allow W7 to utilise your old scanner. I have an old Canoscan and was successful with Vue Scan.

In the end the price put me off and if I'm honest I'd probably put the money towards a new scanner. In any case, fortunately I have an old laptop running XP, so just dig that out when I need to scan something, which isn't very often.

If I required the use of a scanner more often, or my XP laptop died, I'd probably re-visit the VueScan/new scanner question again.
