Just about to be announced! A 135 f/1.8 with a stabiliser.

Also a 24mm 1.4 too apparently

I don't know what it is about telephoto primes with massive aperture ratings, but man oh man I do want.

My current impulse/idontneedbutdowant is a Canon EF 200mm F/2 IS L. Such a pointless lens for me but DAT FRONT ELEMENT!

Is the 135 F/1.8 Canon/Nikon/Sigma?
 
Yeah they usually make them on all mounts.

The sigma 85mm 1.4 has really wow'd me

Alex, I've got the Nikon 200 f/2 VR, it's a beast of a lens. If you want a big front element and not the bulk of of the 200 look at the magic cannonball, the 85mm f/1.2.
 
Was on a few photography sites. Same people leaking the sigma 18-35 f/1.8
 
A 135 1.8 with OS might be a bit on the large side. I'd like Sigma or someone to do what Leica has done with the 50mm f/2 AA and make an uncompromised 50mm. Zeiss seem to be doing something like that with the 55mm f/1.4, but no autofocus.

I have! It depresses me!

For a practical reason though, even though both the 200 F/2 and the 85mm F/1.2 both share USM. I've noticed that the 85 focuses using Royal Mail and the 200 F/2 focusses alot quicker!

Sorry for off topic but, it's not that slow IMHO.. Slower than most sure but I have yet to miss a photo op because of it's slowness! It is however very accurate at focussing. I have more problems with keeping ME still whilst shooting wide open!! :lol:

Back on topic! This is good news as the new 35 is rather nice and a new 135 with IS would make a nice combo with the 85L..;)
 
Sigma really are trying to up their game!

Always rated them over tamron but not quite as high as tokina.... but with these recent announcements I think they are really shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in the lens department.

I have no idea why canon and Nikon aren't moving quicker for fast, stabilised lenses and now zooms that are faster than 2.8

Hopefully sigma will now be setting the benchmark for going forwards :)

Not sure if I'd buy a 135mm f1.8 since it's not quite long enough for my tele needs and too long for other needs but a nice addition to their collection none the less.
 
I used to prefer tamron over Sigma, but Sigma certainly seem to have pulled ahead. Atm I have 2x Nikon lenses, and 2 x sigma and I really find it hard to choose a fav.
 
Doesn't look like it from all the 35 1.4 problems I've seen. It's not weather sealed either which I'd like them all to be. The biggest problem is I just can't trust Sigma not to build and sell a lemon and then force me to play pass the parcel with the shop until I get a good one.

This is news to me, pretty much every review I have read and everyone I know with this lens has sang its praises
 
Agreed! The 35mm I owned was by far the sharpest and probably nicest design lens I've owned. Had zero problems with mine. Also their 85 1.4 SMOKES the Nikon 1.4D and is pretty much an equal match for the 1.4G and canon 1.2L
 
It's been on a lot of the big forums, didn't Cagey have to exchange one on here too? I'd like to trust them, but I wouldn't be at the front of that queue.

I'd be behind you in the queue :)

Only time will allow then to rebuild their rep.

Just a quick search of their 150-500 reveals a 50/50 split of good to not as good copies.

I'm confident they knew this and will be one reason for the new branding.

I certainly did have to send the first one back,but the second one is perfect. When they do get it right, they really get it right, but I agree, they need to ramp up on their QC. They could be a very serious contender.

No weather sealing on the 35 doesn't bother me, it does have a kind of weather seal on the hood, other end, where you're more likely to catch drops of rain, say.

For half the price of the Nikon 35mm1.4 though, i can live without sealing. It is the only thing the Nikon has over it.

ah right. I have been looking at the 120-300 2.8 but would like to try before I buy so to speak. would replace my 70-200. Might be abit big for a wedding like though lol
