Yes
I cant tell anyone anything other than the thread title, but it seems that two new Sony DSLR's are coming fairly soon. The A700 is being replaced which is logical, but the interesting thing to me is that given it shares engineering with the D300 from Nikon, one wonders if a D400 could be in the offing late Autumn this year. This is pure logical thinking from me, but I do wonder. The D200 had a 22 month shelf life and by late summer, the D300 will have attained the same. The Sony stuff is official however, but no word on what and when but will hope to let the Sony lovers know when I do.

Of course, of late, my dates for the Nikon D3x and Nikon D5000 were on the money so lets not all be nasty now :D

Diego.

Cheers for that Pete, any idea where in the range the other newcomer may be placed?

A replacement for the A700 sounds very logical but simply makes it harder to decide whether to grab a bargain soon or wait and see what the new model offers.

OK. Get me a free D400 when they're out and I'll believe you :D

Indeed. I was in the hunt for a second body and was thinking about waiting for the A700 replacement but in the end decided on a second A700 for a bargain price. Not that I won't be green with envy at anyone who buys the replacement.

Very interesting news, and thanks! Hmm, two new Sony DSLR's...

Maybe....

- a a500. Plastic version of the a700, but with HD video with the same sensor as the D90/D5000.
- a a7x0. Higher MP sensor & HD video (as per some of the D400 rumours). Plus a few other things like micro lens adjustments, electronic shutter, advanced flash controller (as per 58 flash)

I have no idea on how Sony will dig itself out of it's hole regarding it's LV implementations. I do hope that single sensor LV is introduced by Sony, if just to keep the press off their backs. Maybe they can relabel it’s single sensor LV as 'Very Intelligent Preview' (VIP)
