It's here...

Sounds exciting...

Why is there no update to the 28-75?

Just noticed linking doesn't work.. so here's the pic from Intro2020:

I read about this on their website the other day....bit put off that they are still manufacturing the Nikon version with built-in motors.

Why? TBH it's Nikons fault as a large proportion of their lower end cameras don't have built in motors.

Anyone know how many stops the VC is supposed to compensate for?

And the UK price will be?

No clue. Its best if you contact Intro2020, link is in my first post.

Not sure why you would need an image stabilizer on that range, although i probably would  i would have thought it would have been more beneficial on the 28-75mm though

I've never heard of Morris Photographic and for a UK dealer the price looks too good to be true.

I can certainly vouch for Morris Photgraphic, they are a bricks and mortar shop and very helpful, certainly the place to go if you after a bag as they have a huuuuuuuuuuuge range in stock

I've ordered one of these in a Nikon fit from OneStop Digital who are based in Hong Kong but there is no import duty to pay. I've paid £368 so the Morris price quoted above for a UK company is a very good price indeed. If I'd have seen that before I ordered on Friday then I'd have jumped at it.

I'll be doing a review of the lens as soon as I've received it and had a chance to test it out.

I phoned Morriss and they said that basically the Canon one should be available around mid to late November and should be roughly the same price as the Nikon.

IS on a 17-50mm? As far as I know, 'normal' IS is more effective at longer focal lengths, so unless they've changed it drastically you'd be lucky to get a stop or two of benefit from this at 50mm? I'd guess anyone expecting to get 3-4 stops at 17mm will be sadly disappointed.

Yeah. True. I have also heard that the IS (VC) on this Tamron has a 1 second delay before it takes the shot which sounds...well... how do the Canon equivalents respond? Instantly?

If you click on the 'new link here' that strobemonkey posted, you'll find that the Canon version was released on 29th October in Japan and a review for the Nikon version.
No mention of there being a one second delay with the VC.

Heard from where?

The VC on the 28-300 VC is amazing, and possibly the best stabilisation system I've come across - it locks instantly.

Can't see this will be any different.

Same for the 18-270, I can't fault the VC.

Oops...Double post.

If I had not just bought the EF-S 17-55mm F/2.8 I would have gone for one of these. I am certain it will give very similar IQ for almost half the price.

Same with the Canon I think, you have to wait a second for the image to stabilise before taking the shot for the IS to be effective.

They have a showroom in Northamptonshire, bought a few items from them online and in store. My experience with them is fantastic.
If you search the forum, you will find a lot of happy people with Morrisphoto.
