I'm a newby to DSLR, I have at the moment a Fuji Finepix 5000 22x optical zoom and have got some reasonable results with it but now looking to move on to DSLR, I also have an old EOS 1000(35mm), with 35-70 & 80-200 canon lenses, I am looking to purchase a Canon 600D + 18-55mm kit lens, will the lenses that I already have, fit on to the new 'Body'? and is the camera recommended? Martyn i believe that the kit 18-55mm lens isn't very high quality so you may be better going for the body only and adding a better lens, i did this with my 60D and bought a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 non VC which is superb :)

Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply, the camera I am looking at is the nwly released Canon EOS 600D DSLR. Martyn.
 
In theory the lenses might work. Take 'em down to jessops of other camera store and see whether they work on their display model (unless its too new). If they work on the slightly older bodies then its likely they will work on the 600d.

Alternatively, take a few pics of the lenses and post on here. Closer to the mount and any informative numbers would probably be useful.

I think anything EOS uses EF lenses. The 600D will accept EF and EF-S lenses. The older FD lenses can only be used with an adaptor and only focus manually I believe. The type of lens will be stamped on the lens somewhere...
