New to Flickr

So after putting it off for years, i have finally signed up to flickr.

I have uploaded a few shots, organised them, given them appropriate tags etc.
But now what, how do i entice people to view them? So far none have been looked at. Out of curiosity, i have searched for some of my shots by, refining the search by tags and most recent but they don't appear. Though mush older ones do.

My privacy settings seem fine. Does it take a while for shots you upload to become viewable? :shrug:
 
You need to give the pictures meaningful titles and descriptions (as well as tags) for them to show up in the relevant searches.

Then, make lots of contacts. If you see someone's photostram and you like it, add them. People will usually return the favour and add you as well. They then get to see your updates from their homepage and will be tempted to go an look.

The easiest way with Flick I found is to search for groups that your pictures relate to, ie. motorsport, birds, nature, your camera model, whatever, join the group and add your pics. Most groups insist that you comment on at least two other pictures for each picture you add. As Jim said, that will make contacts where you can reciprocate with comment on their pics and so on.
 
Oh and one probably very simple question, but it has me stumped.

I just made one of those signatures like Jim.R's, but how the hell do you embed it in your sig? :lol:

Go to your Flickr page and copy the url. Then in user cp (here) type "My Flickr" (or what ever you want), hichlight it, then click on the insert link icon(globe n paperclip) then just paste and it should be there.

It should look something like this in your sig URL="http://www.flickr.com/photos/YOUR NUMBERS HERE/"]Flickr[/URL but with the brackets at either end
 
Sorry, i meant the profile widget.

I habe made one, just cant work out to put the code in my sig correctly.

I wonder if its just the image thats linked back to the flickr page...
