New tripod or filters

I'm am looking to get into landscape photography and know a good tripod and good filters will be a great help. My question is this though. I will have to buy them separately probably about 6-9 months part. I have decided to go for lee filters but not decided on the tripod as yet. Just wanted some views on whether it would be best to get the filter first or the tripod? For info I currently have a cheap jessops atlantic 325 tripod.

If you already have a tripod, your as well getting filters till you can afford to upgrade.

If OP's tripod is stable enough to get a steady shot (use remote to increase your chances), a filter kit may be a more substantial upgrade. A new tripod will have to follow sooner or later...
 
Tripod is a better solution than the filters short term IMHO.
 
Thanks guys, looks like the tripod is a must, one I have would be ok I think on a non windy day! Any recommendations on a tripod and head circa £150-200? I have looked at the redsnappers and they are my choice at the minute!
 
Redsnapper is fantastic for the money.

Can you afford one of them and the filters?
 
I picked up the Manfrotto 190X for sub £100 and would strongly recommend it, I was recommended sticking to them or Giottos for quality and it's not let me down.

Head depends on need, I can't fault a multi-axis tilt one for getting things stable but depending upon your needs and ability to get things level (mine is terrible) ball and socket options are also there. I use the 804RC2 I think, both are on amazon for a little under £150. You can pay a little more and get the carbon fibre version for a lighter weight but beware it's also a little longer and can be tricky to get in a normal 'medium' sized suitcase!

The £150 stuff might leave you with a few quid if you just wanted a single CIR or NR8 filter or some sort, if not the full set of Lees at this time.
 
3LeggedThing are excellent. do look into them, they are a local company based in Bedfordshire. I went to them directly for the tripod called Adrian and was not disappointed: light and strong, stable and flexible.

I was looking at Manfrotto's top 190, 190CXProBX4 but decided why spend more for that, when Adrian is better? it's similar in weight, better engineered simpler modular system, yet more compact and cheaper.
 
I will be able to spend around £150-200 on a tripod and £300 on filters just not at the same time. I might give the current tripod a test at the weekend and if it suffices stick with this for 6 months and order the filters first! Looking at the lee prices though £300 will be taken up pretty much with the polariser alone!!!
