New Tripod...

I'm looking at the Manfrotto 190XDB Tripod. Its Here in Currys.

Has anyone got this tripod and how do you get on with it? Would you recommend it? Is it good value for money?

Or does anyone have any suggestions for others?

My budget is up to £150 ish. Most importantly, I would like the tripod to be sturdy and to last me for a while.

I use an alloy RS324 which is very sturdy. As I also use it for a scope I use the pan tilt head but there are others. It comes with a handy carrying bag, though I found the padding around the top of the legs good enough to allow me to carry it over my shoulder for a few hours with a scope attached. There is also a discount for members of TP.

I deliberated over a new tripod and finally settled for a Slik 700DX pro complete, http://www.amazon.co.uk/SLIK-3365-PRO-700DX-COMPLETE/dp/B000K6ZTDC it's good and tall and very robust. I got it for £118 but it's since gone up. I did change the pan/tilt head for a Manfrotto ball head bought in the classifieds here, thanks Tugster, but I was being picky. I used it properly last Friday and it really is a very good tripod. A number of reviews claim it to be too heavy and even too big but for my use it's just right.
