New Web Host Needed... Go with TSO or can you recommend somebody else?

So I have to move hosts, I have until the end of the year.

I've narrowed it down to tsohost, they seem to have a good price, service and they have been prompt to reply to my emails. A few others come close such as lcn.com. I read that webhostingbuzz are good but their communications was not good at all. And iwebsterr which seems good really didn't inspire confidence.

TSO seem to be the most painless of them all to go with though lcn offered to talk me through the migration because they don't do it themselves unlike TSO

SO I'm here to see who can recommend TSO or indeed anybody else for UK Wordpress hosting, around 5gb would be good and the potential for more sites. My wordpress has a photocart install in it too. Currently I'm around 2.6gb and traffic wise is fairly average I guess, nothing extreme needed. I use googlemail so the mail accounts are irrelevant I think.

Thanks all.

Hosting has been faultless with them. Only niggle is they don't really have any sophisticated spam control options. No custom white or blacklists or basic custom filters.

For the money it's out performed a vps costing a lot more.

We use a few hosts at work that run simple PHP integrations with our product.
The TSO Host integration is consistently the slowest.

What are you hosting? Static HTML or PHP?
What sort of page load times are you looking for?
How many concurrent visitors do you expect?

Wasnt there a thread recently where load times were questioned? I seem to remember even my poorly coded bloat of a site loaded fast on tso.

I think photocart uses php and mysql and it's not exactly sluggish.

I guess it depends how much bandwidth you're pushing through it and what package you're paying for.

I wasn't actually saying 'don't use TSO', but I've been quite surprised. Tbh I suspect the client is a PHP page that simple puts a call into one of our web services. I strongly doubt their's even a DB on the back of it. And to be fair, it probably doesn't represent anything like a normal usage pattern.

Anyhoo, I'm using Pickaweb. £60 per year including domain name. No problems thus far.
I've used NuBlue for some of my clients - brilliant customer service, great shared hosting (if you don't need a VPS), slightly more expensive than regular shared hosting.

I use Unlimited Web Hosting, £3.30 pm inc for unlimited sites, I have five on the go at the moment.

Support is second to none, with most tickets often answered within half an hour or so, they also have a phone number if needed.

I know a lot of people don't rate them but, been with them for about 18 months now with no problems.

TSO all day every day.

UK servers, UK support (majorly fast and helpful).

e: they're not paying me to say that, I can't use my referral code on here :D
I switched to them last week with just a backup of my website and it was all done within a few hours...................fantastic CS and easy to get hold of. As for ease of use of there C-panel, its a doddle I have made some changes and all is working perfectly. Highly recommend them

Switching to TSO was painless. BUT there have been at least 3 occasions where I've seen downtime :(

over what sort of period? cant say ive noticed any recently. there was some brief downtime while they moved datacentres but i think that was last year now.

that said, no host will have 100% uptime. i know for a fact that a certain large supermarket clothing site host has had more downtime than that :)

Back again...

I was with TSOHost who got swallowed up by 123reg who have already proven to be an absolute nightmare.

I'm currently on a one month renewal just so I can migrate elsewhere. Looks like I need minimum 13gb, got one website, and one other domain redirecting to the co.uk plus the webmail which was something I missed since Friday and only just got access to today... thanks 123reg...

Had a great chat with Krystal Hosting but just doing due diligence to see what you guys and girls are saying on here.

IONOS Here. Moved there from TSO and they have been brilliant.

Servers are fast, much cheaper than TSO, and on the odd occasion I have had an issue they have been helpful.

I can't speak for 123Reg but moving from TSO, anybody would be better.

Cost can be a concern with Krystal during renewal. In contrast, my provider, WebhostUK.co.uk, has been excellent in terms of both affordability and customer support. I've been using their services for over 10 years now.
