new website problems

I am in the process of designing a website using Serif WebPlus x5 software and would like to get it online.

I have a domain name and hosting with 123.reg and using Filezilla for ftp.

Having spent literally hours trying to get my site on line I get this:

Welcome to your new 123-reg website! If you've uploaded your site but are still getting this welcome page try doing a SHIFT+Reload or a CTL+F5 - this will clear the cache. Good luck with your new website! You can delete this page or change its content.

and this:

Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted

on filezilla.

I have tried for hours and hours to find a solution, followed the instrucrtions to the letter, slowly losing the will to live.

Any input would be greatly appreciated but please bear in mind I know extremely little about IT.

Thanks Phil, not sure about that though as the firewall on my router is already disabled for other reasons, surely it wouldn't be the windows firewall. DSon't know if what I'm saying makes sense or not. Or do the firewall settings need reviewing.

123,reg support have just told me to delete the default index page from the FTP site, did this and now get and error 404 message. Waiting on them again, if I don't get any joy will try your suggestion.

What is the URL of your site?

Just tried the link, I get

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Just a thought, is your home page called index.htm or index.html? If not , that is the problem.

I just clicked on your site and got a list of the contents.

You need to rename home.html to index.html.

As long as that is in the root directory you should get something.

If you use the link below you will get the site appearing (or some of it)

I use reg 123 and web plus x4 and i upload direct from the serif menu and it works fine, u should not need file zilla or any other ftp program
 
Hi Stephen, I know, my daughter used x4 and had no such complications, seems x5 is different. The email I had from 123 gives me the Host name, ID and password for an ftp program. Also in the 'publish to web' on serif it requires ftp site info.

Your website loads fine for me on Chrome, try clearing your cache/temp files

None of the links in your navigation work however.

May I also suggest you may want to slow the gallery transition down just a bit

Also not sure about the rainbow coloured title font

The front page loaded fine for me..... but nothing else works :(
