one of the pictures thats suppose to be portrait style shows landscape for me though?

I'm no expert but my initial thoughts would be that I like the layout and colour scheme; simple and neat but on saying that because of the style it may be best to make sure the thumbnails are the same dimensions so it doesn't look cluttered.

Also a little worried that it may fill up and expand downwards quite considerably when you add more content as there doesn't seem to be a typical menu system in place. Oh, and the email would be best using your domain name although that may not be a good idea taking into account the size of your domain name! The About and Welcome are a little similar.

Other than that it definitely has potential to be a great site in my untrained opinion! :thumbs:
 
I quite like the overall layout, it looks a little bit like a blog rather than a website though, which is not necessarilly a bad thing.

It is a pity that your domain name is so large.
 
I think you need to do a little work on it to stop it looking too much like a portal page. Also the adverts need to go if this is going to be your professional website. The adverts get in the way of the design aesthetic.
 
OK, I'm going to be brutal. I don't like it I'm afraid :( There is too much white/text and there are not enough, or not big enough images on the front page. The URL is also mighty long, do you have some business cards printed up with it typed out large enough to read? If not I think you will need them, that's an awful lot of address for someone to remember if they ask you in a rush.

There are also some spelling mistakes on your front page. I know you're only 14, but I'm sure you know how to use spell check :)

On clicking on 'More collections' I find the page loads OK, but I think your images are a bit too big. Not only do they not fit in the window without scrolling, they are also prone to theft that big. Yes you seem to have disabled right click, but people can still take them, and being that size there is a whole lot more they can do with them, than say an image that is 500 pixels on the longest side.

I hope that all helps. I was going to be all nicey nicey and tell you it was all fine, but I don't think that will help you in any way at all. You have made the effort to create a site, now put just a bit more effort into making it attractive to your market ;).
 
I have to agree with Jo. The front page is like your shop window. Focus on your usp. I would say that is your age. Maybe design a page more along the lines of who you are and what you do. This will grab the attention of reader and make them want to click on links for more. The page you have here would do better as part of the site rather than the home page.

As to the url you could always buy a domain name for a few pounds and then forward it to this long one

Never ask for opinions on your website on a forum is my advice.

There is not a website published where someone, somewhere wont pick fault with it. Everyone has their own ideas on web design, for me, it would be no flash, a simple and basic design which promotes what you do or what you sell.

If you are happy with it and you think it serves your needs, crack on.

That's not very helpful is it? I know if it hadn't been for the good people of TP offering me honest advice on my site, it wouldn't look half as good as it does (I'm not saying for a minute it's the dogs you know whatsits ... but ...). I for one am very glad of honest advice. It's the only way people learn and develop.

I agree, its not helpful, but its what I think.

I have been doing websites for people for a good long while now and at first I used to ask around for views and comments and I would get pulled from pillar to post with differing opinions.

Now when I do someone a website, its their opinion I value most as they know exactly what it is they want. If they are happy thats all that matters. A very large proportion of websites I have done for people have been very successfull for them.

Again, my advice is keep your web sites simple and dont complicate them. If the person browsing can't get to where he wants in just a couple of clicks you are doing something wrong. Its all about displaying concise information that is easily accessible.

not overall keen on the layout or colour scheme - certainly looks wrong having black bacground with white and green over the top of it.
 
It looks a lot like a website from 10 years ago, I also found it quite slow, but I guess that it a combination of free hosting and large image files...
 
thanks everyone, will take on board what you lot are saying, and will change some things soon, and will change the background and ive added 1 more set of shots a little while ago, and i will resize the shots, becasue they are a touch too big, and will get my own design if i can, thanks everyone...

I agree completely with this - however you do websites for people, and in that situation it is only the person who you do the site for whose opinion counts.
Scott has done his own website and it is his first attempt.
Think back you your first attempt and you will realise without often harsh critique you would not have made it better. I know I would have carried on doing horrific sites if I had not been told!

Scott, have you made changes to the site, only it shows as a dead link now.
 
That's a really good first attempt. The only thing I would say is - check your spelling and make sure you have capital letters where they should be etc.
 
The site hs a lot of irrevevant content
It doesnt convey YOU or your photography

How many hits on your gallery, the adverts, the calender all need to go

The background needs to go, and the big gap in the middle of the front page needs a super picture in the middle of it

My honest advice:
As you are 14, and want an outlet, set up a wordpress blog (free), and use find a simple free template aimed at photographers (google photo blogging). Disable ALL the add-ons, and extras, and start off with your best image, and write a few comments about it about it. Only add an add-on or extra, if it tangiably makes you convey your photography or message more clearly

Simple is often the very best way
