New website

very nice site. big pictures with vibrant coloured pics and a variety of images

works fine in chrome , im redoing our work one from flash to a full screen slide show to work on the ipad / iphone as they dont like the flash

Looks and works great on my iPhone 4. Photo navigation is a little awkward though. Also the drop down menus after clicking a link at the top disappear quickly.

Great looking site. However, I've never really liked sites where music is on by default. I tend to close them straight away.

The menu system is slow to operate for me and the added clicks on the menu system seem unnecessary. It would put me off from spending time on it.

I've never studied web design myself, only built a very basic one for my own photography. I did study graphic design for 2 years though, so I'd like to think I know a little bit!

A few main points to consider:

1) It takes ages to load. People will get bored of waiting & watching little boxes move about. I find, on average, it should take 5(ish) seconds for a site to load, max, especially as the work on it is mainly commercial & potential clients will likely be looking at a good few portfolio sites & possibly getting a bit bored of it.

2) While the website, as a general website, is cleverly done, there are far too many things that move & change colour & generally steal the viewers' attention that should be fully on the photographs. This also means more loading (and waiting around watching boxes move about) time. Nobody will pay a photographer because they can use flash. The background is also very distracting.

3) I see the 'music off' button, but am hearing nothing. Probably because my computer is buggered. Anyway, I really hate it when websites that aren't meant to play music do. I feel it is quite intruding & it confuses people because nobody expects (or, probably, wants) somebody else's choice of music to be playing on a website for pictures. They are likely to be listening to their own music anyway and that will create an awful barrage of noise. Another thing to consider is that they might have their volume adjusted funnily & your music will come on really loud & make them spill their cup of tea. It's happened to me a couple of times.

In general, it doesn't seem like a photography website, it seems like a little-orange-boxes website and the pictures aren't getting the attention/respect they deserve - you have some really nice ones there!

Hope that helps & doesn't annoy you too much. Forgive me for being blunt, but it's been a busy day & I'm tired!

haha - no problem at all....not sure why its slow for you to load as Ive tried a few devices and different connections and it loads up straight away.....Ive never been one for music on a site so think I will probably drop that...I was just listening to that when I was doing my site so decided to put it on....
