New years resolution 2023

Hobbies & interests related........

Start a few more little projects - I do love my landscape astrophotography, sunrise landscape/tourist spots etc and I'm usually happy with one good image from those outings but I want to take more 'general' images. I want to go to say.... Cheddar or Wells etc and come away with a good selection of (what I like to call) a "roll of medium format film" images. I watch quite a few MF YouTube people & they tend to take more 'snapshot' images than I do on digital - Sure it should be the other way around!!

On that note. I also want to take more 35mm film stuff - I think I said that 12 months ago when I started on the FPOTY challenge & quickly dropped out (3 entries 2022) but I often find it difficult to decide on what to take when I go out..... Digital? Film? Drone? And I know I have a lot less gear than other people too!!

I want to get more hiking in this year. More days out. I wouldn't call it travelling as such. But sunrise to sunset stuff. At the coast. Or Wales etc

I say this every year too..... And last year was the least amount of miles I've put on it since the restoration which finished in 2015!! But more time out in the Escort! It's been locked up now since early October!

Actually, this got me thinking so I'm quoting myself here..... :)

A Flickr check tells me I haven't used my Yashica film camera lenses on the Sony A7 since summer 2018.

Maybe I should leave the Voigtlander & GM's lenses at home & just go out with......

A7 plus adapter, Yashica FX3 Super, ML28mm, ML50mm & ML135mm - 3 focal lengths I've not shot with for such a long time too :ROFLMAO: Pre 2015 Canon 5D2 days pretty much as that was the exact focal lengths I used shooting Canon!

To be kinder to myself and look after my health, which will hopefully lead to being able to get out more with the camera.

I gave up drinking last August after a 54-year career, so I suppose that's a resolution I've already made.

I suppose my resolution would be to expand my knowledge of film cameras. Despite using them more than digital these days I realise I don't trust them to do any serious stuff, like landscapes. I want to try more things with film.

To improve my work/life balance, so that I can spend time doing photography

I think I will just carry on as is. I'm happy with the photo gear I have, although I would like to update 2 of my lenses.

A new PC in the coming month is an absolute must.

I wouldn't mind getting a bit fitter, I was reminded yesterday whilst walking in Glencoe that I'm not as fit as I once was.

I would like to get into the landscape more than I have the last 2 years, whilst also keeping my wildlife activities, going.

.

That's it!

Get out and about a lot more - since we've both packed in work, our get up and go has got up and went :(
Be satisfied with the photo gear I've got and no impulse buying (gonna be hard  )
Try more Brewdog beers (Gonna be easy )
Not to drink Brewdog beer because of their scumbag management.
Shame because I really liked their "Lost Lager" never mind.

Why deprive myself through their shocking antics
Brewdog is relatively local to me - Their Ellon HQ is around 15-20 minutes away.
My son works for Brewdog and he is well taken care of.
You can only do what you think is right.
Too much of their beer is in tins anyway for me, so its no loss.
Plenty of Bitburger at Majestics to enjoy and its nicer.

Craft Beers have really taken off over the past few years.
There's quite a few mini breweries around here, Fierce Beer, Brew Toon are my favourites.
I've only been enjoying beers for the last 3 years - didn't like the taste
One pint of Tennant's Lager and I was in bed ill for a few days!!
I was always a cider drinker.
Then my son introduced me to Brewdog and I was hooked with no nasty side effects.

I had a look when I read through their issues that have been ongoing for a decade - pretty poor management /promotional tactics. Interesting that the experience of one person suggests that there is more to them than the shock tactics; perhaps they were not patient enough for the beer to speak for itself.

New camera for me and to use it more, my 70d is getting on a bit now. To get fitter and loose a bit of weight (1 stone would be nice) as I would love to do more landscape work. Started the new off with a 5.5mile walk yesterday, so I will see how long that lasts !

NY resolutions is to try different things photographically and participating in the 52s is one way of doing things.

And not to talk to my sister.

Paulaner is much nicer - £20 for 20 bottles. £40 if you can still get Oktoberfestbier.
Not keen on Paulaner especially their Weiss beer, when we were in Germany they sold it in the REWE around the corner.
Miss the Kostritzer Schwarzbier, now that is nice.

Not the best Munich beer (that is Augustiner) - Lagerbier Hell is very nice but there are much nice Bavarian Weissbiers available (I lived in Munich for 18 months so did a lot of quality control).

Agree wholeheartedly - if you can find it locally that is... but this time next week I'll make a visit to Hoffmann's in Luebeck-Travemuende for a bottle...

One of my other favourites you don't see here very often is Dortmunder Union.
I don't live too far from Beers of Europe just off the A10 heading towards Kings Lynn.
Only place I can get my number one beer of choice, Bolleke De Koninck, also visited their brewery in Antwerp.

Just seen Spaten is three for a fiver on Ocado, do you like that?

Spaten is very marmite, either you like it or you don't. I like it. Their Weissbier though, I love that, it's Franziskaner.

Excellent beer, had some of that very recently, local Waitrose had the cloudy "Hefe" version two bottles for three quid.
Cleared the shelf all bar one bottle, there was an odd number on there.

Just an update.
No pictures taken so far. :(

Update for me.....!

Project started! Went out most of last Monday (as it was the best day over the whole holidays!) and made a good start on a little project type thingy to a few villages.....

Also took some film images & went out with the film kit plus A7/35GM.

Ummmmm... Escort is still where I left it in October..... :(
