Very keen learner in photography and just got my kit together and would love some feedback. Didnt have a huge budget so got what i though was best

Nikon D60
Nikon DX 18-55 lens
Sigma 75-300 lens
Basic tripod
3 x ND filters
Remote

Ive started to take some good(ish) shots now but know ive got tonnes more to learn.

The post important things is YOU!! Stick a D3 in my mother in laws hands, and a kodak disposable in mine, and I would fancy I would get better images!!!

Your kit is basic, but a D60 is a decent camera, and I have got some great images with a D40 and kit lens. Sure, a better lens/camera will in theory get you better results but they cost money. What will make a difference is not using auto, and if you use flash, getting a flash. If money was no object we would all have Nikon D3 with the 'holy trinity' of lenses.

Forget the equipment and just take pictures - you can get great shots with any equipment - you can also shoot rubbish with the best kit! Just go out and shoot - and enjoy yourself.

I'll echo what the others have already said. It's about you, your desire to learn and ability to change what you do. If you like it and move on equipment wise, always buy some good glass first and a new body later.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Looking for a decent distance learning course to get me going but will be snapping away in the meantime so will get some photos up as and when i have something thats worthy :D

Great advice which I wholeheartedly agree. Enjoy yourself and enjoy the photographs you take.

Great advice you have already been given. Like they have said get out and photograph things. Once you start getting more and more into it and using more creative and manual controls you will then get to a point where you realise the kit is hindering you (more the lenses than the body)

And you'll want more sharper lenses with wider apertures, etc. But others dont, it depends on what you photograph.
