hi i am very keen on starting photography but i do not have a clue where to start.... so i got photoshop and started playing,
now i need help on where i start with a camera i have been looking at a nikon d40x kit on ebay. i dont want to spend a fortune to start with i have £300 to start with any ideas or guidence please

The D40X is a great camera - really good for beginners. But I'd suggest that what you do is hone your choices down to 2 or 3 and go and hold them in Jessops. Holding them and seeing how they feel matters as technically there isn't going to be a great deal of difference between a Nikon and its equivalent Canon or whatever.

Definitely go play and then you can narrow down the options.

Also you may want to consider used.

In the old days we used to start with a camera .....:shake:

In the old days Jerry - we didn't have Photoshop :-)

Good advice above about getting your hands on cameras to try them out. Now, this is a very personal opinion and others may well disagree, but please don't buy on ebay!
I know Jessops are not always the cheapest, but they will negotiate over prices!
Andy.

I don't disagree with this. With Jessops you will get a decent aftercare service which matters a great deal if things malfunction. They also do good promo deals etc. I bought mine from them on a buy now and pay in a years time - no deposit and no interest. I'm "saving" for it by buying £100 of Premium Bonds a month. Life being a lottery I might even win a million while I'm at it.

thanks for all your help im gonna take all your advice giving i just found out an old friend works at jessops so thats a good thinbg id rather buy used for the reason of cheapnis lol just incase its not for me
