Hi all

My name is Paul and I am just getting into photography, I've picked up a Nikon D70 and a Sigma 70-210, a Sigma 18-50 DCD ,AF Nikkor 35-80 lenses.

My question is the D70 has had 13000ish shutter releases is this reasonable number for this camera

thanks

Paul

Hi Paul and :welcome: to the BEST photo forum!!

Hello and welcome! :D that shutter count sounds fine - I believe even the slr's at consumer end of the market are good for about 50k shots.

Is that it?! Jesus, mine will be knackered in no time then

I don't want to start thinking about shutter counts tbh, it'd worry me sick. Heck, you gotta feel relaxed to take creative of shots, which you have to do by taking them from different angles. You can't be thinking "right, thats shot 22k, I'll take one shot of the kingfisher as it zooms past...." Its just crazy. My old D50 was still banging on after 50k

I believe the manufacturers have 'guide' figures. Many cameras will fail later, a few will fail sooner. I certainly wouldn't worry about it anyway!! :)

13K Is low for todays standards, so just relax and get snapping!

Welcome to THE most AWESOME togging forum in the Universe. You are gonna love it here!

In fact the manufacturer shutter no. is a mean. Therefore in theory an equal number should fail either side of the figure.
