Hi Jan, welcome to TP.

I can't help you with courses, but here is a simulator that will give you an idea of what happens when you change your camera settings.

Hi Jan, Welcome to TP. Hopefully you'll be able to find lots of useful information on here. When I started out I found the following of use;

1. Read your camera manual and make sure you understand the key functions - boring but worth while.

2. Look for local beginners courses, I know that sounds obvious. When I started out I managed to find a local college running adult learning night classes in photography.

3. I found books by Brian Peterson and Scott Kelby particularly useful.

4. Most important - take lots of pictures - don't be afraid to experiment with you camera settings!

Enjoy :lol:

Local colleges, yup. Many of these run courses for various levels. The ones I run at a college here in Somerset start next week and run for 10 weeks. And are just about full. If this is about the same where you are, I'd get in touch quick!

Hi Jan & Welcome :wave:

Lots of good advice in the above posts...

My other bit of advice is just take some pictures with the camera and enjoy it, you'll also learn as you go along and can use the manual / books/ tutorials etc to guide you along.

As Dave said, what camera did you get - those that have the same camera can help with specifics as well.

All the best for the new year and good luck with your new camera
