Newby question about flash

I have an off camera cable ( Canon 2 ) and a 550ex flash. With the 550 off camera, can I still use the pop up too to help fill? Using ettl

Not if you're triggering the 550 from the hotshoe via a cable.

I was going to, oh well. I need a second flash then.

You could use a reflector depending on flash and subject locations of course.
