Nex/G3 conundrum

Some of you may have seen me advertising my Nex 5 for sale/trade. As it hasn't moved and I have some money burning a hole in my pocket, should I keep the Nex and invest in a couple of legacy lenses, or part ex it for a G3 with lens bundle. This will then give me more scope for OEM lenses.

I did toy with the idea of returning back to the DSLR fold, but to be honest I love the portability of the Nex.

Any thoughts? I have searched comparison sites and the G3 definitely seems more popular. My dilemma is I already have the Nex!

Any direction would be welcome.

I have DSLR's, a GF1, a G1 and a few compacts but I don't really like the no VF and camera held away from the body shooting of compacts and other non VF cameras and for that reason in your place I'd go for a G3. With a G3 you have a VF and a back screen so you can shoot how you want.
 
Thanks for that. Although as I wear glasses, it can sometimes be handy to hold the body away from me!
 
I wear glasses much of the time but I find that I like using a VF more than the back screen. I have a manual lens on my G1 and an auto lens on my GF1, I don't like manually focusing with Panny AF lenses or when using the back screen. My lovely little GF1 has hardly been used at all since I got the G1, been thinking of selling it but looking at the sale section here there doesn't seem to be much interest so like you with your Nex I'll just keep it.

My thoughts exactly. Although Park Cameras offered me a p/x on a G3 plus kit lens and 20mm pancake, I still needed to find the best part of £400 on top!

I guess we all like a profit right?
 
I have the 20mm f1.7 on my GF1 and I think that it's a very good lens. The only thing that I don't like is that it's pretty awful to use manually, having no markings, a very long turn from end to end and no end stops. Great for just straight AF though.

If the G3 was just a smidgin smaller and if anyone wanted my GF1 and G1 I'd probably change them both for a G3.
 
I must admit, it's looking that way with me. I may even accept less for it!

A couple of things put me off moving to Nex as my smaller form camera, both to do with the lenses. Firstly yet again like the Panny lenses they lack markings although I don't know if they also use that awful (IMVHO) focus by wire system with no end stops like Panny use, and secondly the lenses look to be much bigger and as a package a Nex+lens looks bigger and bulkier than a MFT+lens.
