First of all I think its important to tell you's what I already have, so you can make a reasonable judgement, so here is what I have already got;

Canon 500d
18-55mm f3.5-5.6 kit
70-200mm F4l usm
50mm f1.8

I mostly shots of people, wildlife (the odd deer, bird, garden etc.) and I get by with just my 50mm and 70-200 fine although I find focusing a problem (the 500d is not very good for tracking subjects) and therefore think that the 7d would be a great upgrade as it has the advanced focusing system and 8fps also the weather sealing would be usefull and great for filming as well, I've recently made a music video for my friends at school. But here is the other option, would it be a better Idea to get the 60d and a new lens; a 85mm f1.8, 28mm 1.8 or even a new 50mm 1.4?

oh and I plan to get this at Christmas (Ill have to save up from now on) so hopefully the body prices will come down

Isn't the 7d standard issue for wildlife photographers?

Im not sure and when I mean wildlife i mean i do it for fun and i forgot to mention, I go to sports events aswell (i got to air shows, my friends football matches and to the skate park sometimes)

7D would be very nice especially with the latest firmware upgrade.

yea, i dont think I could justify getting something not as good (especially because I've been into jessops twice to try it) and its a lot more economical then the 500d oh and I have done research on the update, it looks a lot better. It puts the video on par with the 60d apart from the tilt swivily screen.
