I don't know whether anyone on here watched Only Connect on BBC 4 at half-eight, but there was a photography related question in the next in the sequence the round. Here it is:

2, 2.8, 4, ...

People who didn't watch it are welcome to guess, I can't see it being very difficult.
 
If your a snapper that should come as easily as what's next in the sequence 1, 2, 3, 4. If you're not, it's a bit random.
 
I didn't get it simply because you're not giving the topic up front, those numbers could have meant anything.
