Next lens advice

I have a Nikon D60 with the standard 18-55mm VR kit lens, and although it's fine, it's not outstanding so wish to upgrade. I'll be working over the summer, and have set a budget of between £800-£1000 for two or more lenses. I am into a wide range of photography from landscape to wildlife as I love just getting out there, so I already had in mind a few lenses. Just wanted some advice of which ones. The ones I though of were the Nikkor 16-85mm VR, the 18-70/105/135mm VR's and the 70-300mm VR. Just wondering if there were any other options, I was thinking the 18-200mm VR, but wondered if the optics would suffer?

Any help would be appreciated.

Wildlife = length. the 70-300VR is a cracker of a lens for the money.

For landscape you don't need VR. The 18-70 lens really is a sweetie. excellent quality for little outlay.

I have got the 18-70 and the 70-300 VR and it is a cracking combo. The 18-70 is a gem of a lens and the 70-300 VR punches well above it's price tag

The only thing that may be worth considering is a faster lens in the 18-70 range :shrug:

I recently bought a Nikon 16-85mm VR which I just love. Good for landscapes. I upgraded from the above mentioned 18-70mm for it, for those few extra mm's either side!

I also recently bought a Tokina 50-135mm, but I don't suspect that is anywhere near long enough for wildlife. Good for candids and portraits though, and has a f2.8 fixed aperture throughout the range. Superb build quality

16-85VR + 70-300VR. Go together like salt and vinegar. Similar build. Both very good for the money. The 16-85 is great for landscapes and general walkaround, as it is both sharp and light. The 70-300 is great for wildlife because it's long, light and relatively cheap.
