Our daughter has just started out and is using my old 300d, ideally we need a camera each, so should I just buy another 300d?
Or a better model?
So if so which one and why?
I hava small budget of £50-250

With that budget do you need a lens?

You could probably pick up a used 40D for that money if no lens is needed. That would be a superb step up.

Ideally we would need a lens as we would then have a camera each, so whats different about the 40D?

metal body
higher FPS (I think?)
Probably a little better on noise
The biggest change will probably be the handling with the thumb wheel on the back.

THanks
I have to sell some of my collectables first so once my junk sells I will have a good look around. I am still tempted just to buy another 300d as it works well and we both like it and if she dropped it it wouldnt be the end of the world, so keep the ideas comming please

Hi

I went from a 300D (still have it) to a 40D, my daughter used my 300D for a while until I bought her a new one. We had no problems with having a 300D and 40D.

If you do want to get another 300D, I maybe selling mine...

Just let me know via PM
I do fancy both using the same and see how we get on, I cant complain about the 300d it does all we need, so I do wonder why bother to spend more?
I would like a bigger display but to be honest I can never tell untill I get them on the PC

The 300D was good in its day but noise handling at anything above ISO400 is quite poor compared to more recent models.

I've a very nice Canon 70-300 there at the moment, complete with genuine hood :D

Thanks
Keep me posted about the 300d
I like the lens but at the moment its more important that we have a camera each, the type of stuff she is photographng at the momant she manages with the 19-55 zoom ( might have the numbers wrong but you get the idea)
