Ok, I'm saving up a certain amount of money each month - up to the £700 mark now - with the eventual goal of buying a 5DmkII and a 24-70 L f/2.8
I currently have a 30D and Tamron 17-50 f/2.8.

The question is, which should I buy first when the savings have amassed enough?

5DmkII & 17-50 or 30D & 24-70 L?

My main use for this would be portraiture, weddings, and landscape/architecture.
I also have a Sigma 10-20, a Canon 35-105 f3.5-4.5 (circa 1987, but a lovely lens), a Canon 50mm f/1.8 and a Sigma 120-400

I would say buy the 24-70 first. The Tamron won't work on the 5D so you'd instantly be without a fast lens for your weddings and portraiture work.

At least you'd then be able to sell the Tamron to put the money into the 5D pot.

Wait a bit and get the 5D2 kit with 24-105L. Currently £2,300 on www.camerapricebuster.co.uk which saves about £200 over buying separates. Also check Kerso's latest price

I know everyone says you need f/2.8 for wedings, but I'm not sure given how good the 5D2 is at high ISO. 24-105 is a more useful range and IS too. Always sell it on for pretty much what you paid.

Just a thought.
