NickD's 52 for 2026 - Week 16 - Monuments.

Original thinking there.

A really good shot & an acceptable shoe horn!

Works well with nice lighting

Thanks!
It's a really nice setup in there, the lighting and screens were really cool.

Yep, that’s good.

Cheers!
My first real shoehorn of the year, but I'm pleased with the image.

Very original take on the theme

Thanks!
More by luck than planning, but I think it works.

Cheers!
It's great having a club that couldn't care less that you've brought a camera... Try that in Ronnie Scotts! :D

Original thinking there.

Thanks!
It was a bit of luck, but I'll take it.

It was the first time I've had the ZF in really low light, and I was surprised how little I had to rescue the shot.

Good shoe horn, poor you being stuck in Barcelona :)

Thanks!
Yeah... unfortunately I'm back now... but it looks like I've brought some sunshine back with me.

Week 14 - Snappers Choice.

Continuing with Barcelona, a shot from Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar, taken on Good Friday morning.

Nice one Wayne :)

That's a great photo. The portrait orientation really accentuates the hight of the building.

Superb capture of the atmosphere there Nick, what lighting.

It's Nick, but I'll take it, Cheers!

Very good!

Thanks!
It does seem laid out to be photographed.

Gosh - that's some building! Nice one.

Cheers!
It wasn't that impressive from the outside, but it was lovely inside.

I did worry that the 28mm would leave me wanting more in terms of wide angle, but I didn't struggle as much as I thought I might.

Superb capture of the atmosphere there Nick, what lighting.

Cheers!
It had atmosphere in spades, as there was a lady doing a reading, and a parade of people off to the right of the altar chanting. The light in there was really nice.

Very nice, love the formations in the glass

Can relate to that :)

It did look even better as it settled, but by then there was nothing coming out of the spout.

Good take for the theme

Cheers!
It's probably not the most original take, but I think it works as an image.

Can relate to that :)

Thanks!
I had a feeling coffee would feature heavily in this week's entries.

It's a lovely clean shot.

Thanks!
I did do an ill considered version the day before, but then I had to remove the cable, and a few other bits. I binned that, and the following morning I moved the machine, used an extension to plug it in from the other side, and actually started with a clean shot... Turns out that even with the faff it's much easier that way.

I like this shot (no pun intended) a lot.

Cheers!
I don't often have my coffee like that, but it looked so much better for an image.

Nice shot, very crisp and the coffee looks pretty good as well

Thanks!
It had a fair kick to it.

I agree with everyone else it's a nice shot, very well composed.

Cheers!
I did play with the composition a fair bit before deciding on this.

Nice pointy thing. Tell us about it!

That looks like an interesting sculpture.

It's odd. How interesting it is depends entirely on the light and the skies on any given day.

Designed by Barr Gazetas Architects, constructed by Whitbybird London and made by Swiss company Tuchschmid AG, Peninsula Spire is a stunning artistic element of spectacular new contemporary public space in London - Peninsula Square. Its unusual geometry, invisible welds and a shiny surface are only three points, which describe this 45 m high steel mast. The triangular spire twists 166° around its own axis from the 2.5 m side lengths of the base tapering to down 10 mm side lengths at the top. The internal steel frame and the stainless steel outer shell together weigh 34 tonnes.

Great angle, looks like it’s going into the clouds

Thanks!
It was the action in the clouds that made me go for it.

Morning rituals is quality - looks like it has come straight out of a magazine.

Monuments is a fascinating picture - at first I thought I'd prefer more clarity at the peak, but then decided I like the dreaminess.
