Just bought a bargain lens Sony DT 50mm f1.8 SAM- couldnt resist it at £45 boxed and in mint condition, looks brand new and Im a sucker for bargains :eek:as these retail around the £140 mark

My question, what is the primary use for this lens? Im thinking low light (f1.8) or Portraits :shrug:

Wow, pretty decent going! On a cropped lens camera like your a390, portraits are a good bet. Playing with shallow depth of field for artistic effect is good fun and can help add an extra element to your shots, and that f/1.8 is also useful, as you have already identified for low light conditions. When you want to focus on one or two subjects, it helps you to isolate the person/subject from the background.

Tried it on portraits yesterday ( wifes 18 yr old sister) had some great shots with the lens wide open at f1.8- blurred the background a treat ;)
