I have been experimenting with changing the white balance both when shooting and in PP as I shoot in RAW format and sometimes it seems to work and sometimes not.

Its not always feasible for me to find a remote area for night photography so for my Canon 550d I was able to purchase a CLS light pollution filter which does help a bit

Does anyone know if these are available for Full frame cameras such as the 5dMk3

thanks

Hi Andrew, this may help:http://www.astronomik.com/en/clip-filter-fur-canon-vollformat.html
These CLS filters work very well on narrowband lighting, that is the ones that give an orange light, but
They will not help cutting pollution from full spectrum lights such as the LED ones now be fitted all over the country.
When I took up astro photography a few years ago, I cursed the orange light glow, but with a CLS filter fitted, it eliminated
virtually all the pollution. Now I've got LED's.........
Hope this helps....
