Hi guys tried the above lens with with cheap extension tubes a sb29 ring speedlight but it was ridiculously dark and cudnt adjust f numbers or shutter speed, was too hard to focus even *** illuminating the subject..

If I brought some af tubes would I be able to adjust f number and shutter speed also?

Ben

Kenko auto tubes work fine - you need the electrical contacts to maintain aperture control from the body.

Will tubes alway be that dark?

Econo af set on eBay for just over £40 would they work?

No - If you use tubes with the electrical contact you will lose only about one stop of light so it will only be slightly darker as the lens will only stop down to your selected aperture when you press the shutter whereas at the moment you are looking through a aperture of f32 all the time

Don't know as I've only used Kenko - Just be aware that theres a lot of weight from the lens being supported by the tubes and any play or lose fitting between the tubes themselves will break the electrical contact between the body and lens.

Yea I was thinking that.. How do u get around the weight issue as the 105 is really heavy..

I've used the Kenko tubes on a Nikon Body with a Sigma 150mm and R1C1 and on a Canon body with a Sigma 150mm and MT24-EX without any problems.

Oh ok that's alright then..
