As some of you lucky devils may know, I have this week sold all my gear, D7000 included.
Why, because when I 'go out' I just wan't to enjoy 'going out' and not loaded down with gear feeling pressurised that I must take pictures.
My intention was to buy a G12 from the proceeds as a walk-around do-it-all camera, just snapping away as the mood took me.
But, one item of the sale that didn't raise any interest, here and elsewhere, was the Nikkor 16-85, which did surprise me more than a little.
Part exchange on the lens against a G12 was derisory at just £175.
The fact that the 16-85 didn't sell I took as omen (OK, daft I know) and thought why not keep it and mate it up with one of the lower end Nikon bodies.
A very good lens on simple, light, small body...not an awful lot bigger than a G12, but with improved performance.
My initial look was at D3100, but after reasearch I decided against.
So, I have settled for the D5100, It should arrive today, really looking forward to it.
Some may argue that I'm raving mad to swap a D7000 for a D5100, I can understand that.
On the other hand I'm happy with the swap and now when I 'go out' I can enjoy both the 'going out' and any photography that may ensue.
Just as an add-on, I always thought that the D7000, in fact all DSLR's need articulating screen, the D5100 has one.
Thanks to all that bought and enjoy it.
