Nikkor AF 24mm f2.8D - For Use On A Crop

Hi guys, anyone using this lens on a crop?

Just wondering what you think about its performance, how it handles wide open, sharpness etc...

This would give me a good 35mm equivalent, albeit slower than I'd like. The reviews of the Sigma 24mm f1.8 seem mixed and I'm not spending the kind of money required to pickup the new Nikkor 24mm f1.4.
 
Used mine on a D7000 before I changed to the D700. Made for a superb walkabout lens where it broadly matched 35mm on full frame which is my favourite focal length.

Very sharp (especially as it uses the sweet spot on DX sensor), great colour and contrast. Performance wide open was very good, stopped down to 5.6-8 it is stunning
