Nikkor fisheye on a fullframe body

I'm looking to buy a fisheye lens to compliment the rest of my kit, and was wondering if anyone has one of these that they use regularly, any comments about the lens, and any images taken with the item that could be posted up? Thanks, in advance.
 
I have (and use regularly) a Sigma 8mm fisheye lens on a D700 - Full Frame. Fisheyes are a bit of a one trick pony but are the only pony that does that trick if you want it. Not many lenses allow you to take a full length self portrait at arms' length!

so the lens you have, is a circular fisheye lens? i can see interesting shots could come from such a lens, but i wonder whether i'd be better off looking for a diagonal fisheye? i'm looking to try different ideas with regards to landscape and architectural photography???

I'm not sure, so please go easy if i have got this wrong, but i believe that a circular fisheye distorts in a full 360 degrees of the lens's field of view, whereas i think that a diagonal fisheye distorts from corner to corner in a rectangular fashion???
 
I'm just back from shooting in France and Spain - here's one taken on the boat - I used the fish a lot for landscape too. 16mm fisheye on D3 - all EXIF is intact.

thanks - I've got quite a few from this trip but only got back at 2am yesterday so still working on them! :)
 
That is a shot from a diagonal fish eye lens, i believe. Looks good! Would be great to use a lens like that up on a high vantage point, like the Spinnaker Tower down in Portsmouth.

Just don't over use it and have fun. You can get some shots you just can't do any other way. The effect of the fish can be much less obvious on landscapes but still produce very dramatic results. Watch this space. :)

OK - one last quick edit for now .. .. .. Sorry about the watermark - but these are going to picture libraries and I can't risk them being stolen from here.

Agree, but then the same can be said about people posting up images of the same landscapes, such as the london eye, london bridge, brighton's rusty pier, etc. etc. With a fisheye lens, those same landscapes could indeed add a different dimension to the same boring images??? No offence to anyone thats taken shots of the more common landmarks, etc. I have done that myself. Just looking for something a little different, thats all.
