Nikon 1 J2

Hi Guys,

Im new here so excuse my inexperience....:bonk:

Ive recently bought a Nikon 1 J2 mainly because its compact and you can change the lens.

Having messed with auto settings for a week I now want to try and get to grips with it properly

Does anyone have any tips for getting the best out of this camera?

I believe there isnt an option to fit an external flash due to there being an inbuilt one. Is there anything else you can do? Is it a massive disadvantage?!

Im really looking to take some portraits now I have a child (cliche i know) and im new to it all so any tips would be great.

Any more advice would be great....please dont say get a new camera as I cant afford anything else at the moment.

Constructive suggestions please....I have to start somewhere!

Hey I know your comment was a while ago but one thing that helped a lot with my J2 is buying the 1 nikkor 18.5mm f/1.8 lens. Portraits are fantastic with this lens. The kit lens mine came with could only do nice photos outside
