nikon 10-24 any thoughts ?

been looking for a wa for a while now and been recomended the tokina 11-16 but have found a nikon 10-24 at a decent price (used)and having it shipped to a local store but was wondering if anyone else has one and their thoughts compared to the tokina which a lot of people rate before i part with any money

Having used both, I much prefer the Tokina. For me it's sharper and suffers less distortion as well as being much more flexible for a variety of lighting conditions. The Nikon is be no means a disaster it's just I was expecting similar performance to the Canon 10-22 and it falls short- worse when you factor in price.

Some people cite range as being an issue with the Tokina but I've not found it a problem as I have a lens collection and usually operate an UWA on, strangely enough, its widest angle

Depends on your camera body too- if you don't have a motor the Tokina will be MF only and the Nikon is a better match although there is the Tokina 12-24 mkII which does have a motor- not as wide though.

thanks .....quite surprising given the cost that the nikon comes of worse but im not going to be paying the new price ....i will see what it is like when it comes in and then decide
