Nikon 105 Macro VR - can you shake it?

Yes
I've ended up with a secondhand Nikon 105 VR from LCE and didn't think it was very well packed (in a plastic bag surrounded by foam wotsits!)

Have used it over the weekend and it seems to be a good copy with great resolution, but when shaken it does sound as if it's got a spanner or two lying inside it... :suspect: - is this the VR mechanism (had 24-120 & 70-300 VR's before, but don't recall anything being loose in them)?

Anyone got one that they can shake (in a vertical motion ) and let me know?!

there shouldn't be anything loose in it. You may be able to hear the VR working, but not as a result of shaking

Yep, when on the camera you can hear the VR kick in - when off the camera that's when it can be shaken.

I have just got mine out the bag and when shaken in a verticle axis it does make a noise. hope this helps.

yep - mine does too - and it's in perfect condition.

Lovely - good to know my paranoia is over sensitive :bonk:

Thanks Davec223 & awp

I have 4 VR lenses and none of them rattle at all when shaken......

oh, no, hang on, they all do, I had my earphones on.... :naughty:
